When was the last time Google Maps was updated?

You can’t find out when a map was last updated on Google Maps. However, you can find this data by downloading Google Earth and searching for the location in that program. If you go to the bottom of the satellite map, you see a date stamp marking the last update.

Can Google Maps see older?

Although Google Earth displays current imagery automatically, you can also see how images have changed over time and view past versions of a map. Just go to Google Earth and enter a location in the search bar. Click on view and then on ‘Historical Imagery’ to see the image you want for a particular time.

We’re constantly collecting new information about the world, whether from satellite imagery and Street View cars, or Google Maps users and local business owners, and using that information to update the map.

On average satellite imagery in Google Earth is 3 years old so 5 is older than average. As strange as it sounds sometimes newer images may be in “Historical Imagery”.

Can you see old Street View?

Click the tiny clock symbol in the dark grey square – see screenshot below. Use the slider that appears to go further back in time, then click on the small map above the slider. Street View will then show you historical views.

How old are Google street view images?

When you’re in Street View mode in Google Maps, if a clock icon is displayed under the address at the top-left of the map then historical street view imagery is available there. Click down arrow under the clock to expand the dates when imagery is available.
