Can you go into an MRI with wet hair?

Avoid wearing mascara (can contain metal flakes), hair gel and wet hair. Water in hair can throw off magnet signal. Make sure you know where you are going to meet the experimenter and what time you are expected to show up.

In the days leading up to your MRI exam, we may ask you to avoid using hair gel, hair spray, lotions, powders and cosmetics. If your doctor has not prescribed a sedative for you, you may eat and drink normally, unless your doctor or the technologist tells you otherwise.

Can I use Airpods in MRI?

This is normal. You should be offered earplugs and/or headphones to make the noise sound less loud. You may also be able to listen to music through the headphones to make the MRI exam more enjoyable.

Body piercings, wigs and hair weaves or extensions will need to be removed prior to an MRI to avoid interference, heating, or ferromagnetic “pull.” Some tattoo pigments may interfere with the quality of an MRI image, and the radiologist and physicians will need to be aware of the location of those areas in advance.

Can you wear deodorant to an MRI?
