How long can you keep gulab jamun syrup?

Frying them for long or on high heat will harden the jamuns & they won’t soak up the syrup. Gulab Jamuns can keep well in the fridge for up to 20 days. Whenver you want to serve, just microwave for 10-15 seconds. They can be frozen for 3-5 months.

Do we need to keep gulab jamun in fridge?

Gulab jamuns can be kept at room temperature for about a week and up to one month when refrigerated. They can be frozen for months. If the gulab jamuns are fried on high heat, they will be hard inside and not fully cooked. Too much baking soda will make the gulab jamuns too soft or cause them to break when frying.

Can I store fried gulab jamun?

Yes you can keep the dough of gulab jamun for later use but not for than 5-6 days. Keeping for more than this will spoil the texture of the dough. The dough will become hard and loose the oil /ghee content.

What to do if gulab jamun dissolve while frying?

If you find that the gulab jamun are disintegrating in oil, there are 2 reasons, one being the oil is not hot enough and second, the dough is probably too dry. Add some more water or milk and knead again. Then proceed with frying the jamuns in batches. It will take 3-4 minutes for the jamuns to take on a color.
