Can earth benders and water benders bend mud?

Both water and earthbenders can bend mud, there is a fight (I forget which episode it is) where Katara and Toph are both bending mud. Minerals inside plants are not in the form of minerals, they’re either in solution, or are incorporated into organic molecules.
