Do you have to be part of the Jedi Order to be a Jedi?

Well they cannot be Jedi. If we want to determine a group they can belong it can be some dark side cult, or even Sith. This is complex as, especially thinking of tLJ where Luke says “The Jedi must end”, the Jedi seems to mean a trained Force user who is part of the Jedi Order. At least in current canon.
