Why are Peugeot and Citroen cars so similar?

It’s got nothing to do with the country. It’s more like the coincidence that Renault, Citroen and Peugeot are targeting the same market. Then again, Citroen and Peugeot are even the same group, and they share product lines, so at least for them you get very similar products.
