The SEALs – an acronym for Sea, Air and Land forces – are a small, elite military force created in 1962. They carry out covert but effective missions that bigger forces operating from battleships, tanks or jets can’t accomplish. You don’t have to be in the Navy already to join the SEALS, but you do have to be tough.
Although the Marines are highly respected and considered one of the most elite fighting forces, the Navy SEALs training is far more rigorous and demanding than that of the Marines.
Do you need a college degree to become a Navy SEAL?
No college degree is required to become an Enlisted Navy SEAL, but the standards of qualification require the kind of mental and physical fortitude that few possess. For those making the cut, immense challenges and constant training are a way of life. Upon joining the Navy, you must:
Part 2 Visit your local Navy recruiter. In order to become a Navy Seal, you must enlist in the military. Rock the Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery or ASVAB. You will be required to take the ASVAB to join the military. Get your Navy contract.
If you have what it takes, then the Navy has a place for you among the ranks of the elite. Sailors serve in one of over 100 occupational specialties and require a high school diploma or GED.
Can I join the Marine Corp and then go to BUD/S?
If you are in another service branch, you have to join the Navy to go to BUD/s. There is no such thing as joining the Marine Corp then going to BUD/S program.
