Is an ammo belt a magazine?

Is an ammo belt a magazine?

While an ammunition belt can hold and feed cartridges into a firearm, it does not fall into the category of “magazine”, because it has no feeding mechanism of its own. Instead, an ammunition belt relies on a separate feed system built into the rifle, to pull the belt in, extract and then use the ammunition.

Is a belt considered a magazine?

Yes. Strictly speaking, a magazine is any device that holds ammunition and is part of, or attached to, a firearm. Magazines can be tubular, box, rotary or simply a container, such as the device used for holding ammo belts. Magazines can be external and detachable or fixed components within the firearm itself.

Are disintegrating links reusable?

How does a belt fed magazine work?

The feed system runs an ammunition belt through the gun, loading a cartridge into the breech (more on this later). When you pull the trigger, it releases the bolt, and the spring drives the bolt forward. When the pieces separate, the barrel spring (4) pushes the barrel forward, while the bolt keeps moving backward.
