How can I become a member of Lok Sabha?

A person must satisfy all following conditions to be qualified to become a member of parliament of the Lok Sabha;

  1. Must be a citizen of India.
  2. Must not be less than 25 years of age.
  3. Must be a voter for any parliamentary constituency in India.

Who Cannot participate in election?

Only elected members of both Houses of Parliament and of the State Legislative Assemblies are members of the Electoral College for Presidential Election. Therefore, nominated members cannot vote in this election. [see Article 54 of the Constitution.]

Can a Lok Sabha member Become President?

Ans. The President shall nor be a member of either House of Parliament or of a House of the Legislature of any state and if any such member is elected President he shall be claimed to have vacated his seat in that House on the date on which he enters upon office as President.

Who is eligible for Rajya Sabha member?

A member of the Rajya Sabha must: Be a citizen of India. Make and subscribe before some person authorized in that behalf by the Election Commission an oath or affirmation according to the form set out for the purpose in the Third Schedule to the Constitution. Be at least 30 years old.

Who can contest the Lok Sabha elections?

For contesting an election as a candidate a person must be registered as a voter.
