Where did the Berber language come from?
Origin. Tamazight is a member of the Afro-Asiatic language family (formerly called Hamito-Semitic). Traditional genealogists of tribes claiming Arab origin often claimed that Berbers were Arabs that immigrated from Yemen. Some of them considered Tamazight to derive from Arabic.
Both groups have different languages. The Berber language belongs to the Afro-Asiatic family of languages while the Arabic language is from the same family. Berbers and Arabs have major and minor settlements in different countries. For the Berbers, they are the dominant race group in Morocco.
