Are we responsible for our desires?

We are responsible for our desires and beliefs thus formed because we knew that by performing certain actions we would form those desires and beliefs that lead to further actions which we ought not to be doing. But these cases may not constitute the majority of cases in which we form desires and beliefs.

How much control do we have over our choices?

So, how much are we really in control of our decisions? Well, the answer is plain and simple. We are all 100\% in control of our decisions — But, just because we are in control doesn’t mean we always make the decisions that we necessarily want to make.

Most of us think we make choices because of who we are. We are social creatures, and oftentimes context (rather than personality) plays a big role in our decisions. Subtle factors around us shape our behavior, but we fail to recognize those influences.

So the illusion might be that we think we want control but what we really want is a sense of certainty and we can gain this over the things that are within our control that are external like a tidy house or by learning to control our own behaviours and responses.

Are We really in control of our desires?

It never seems like we are in control of our desires because, similar to our beliefs, it is the sum total of our past experience and not something that appears to be a matter of choice. The truth is, desires are different. As Dorothy indicated, we do not have to execute our desires immediately as they pass through our consciousness.

Do you have control over your life?

This might actually be true in some way. You do have control over your actions, your thinking and your believes. In matter of fact not being in control over your life can give you a feeling of dis-empowerment. But what if you were a Spiritual Energy Healer or a Artist? And “things” come to you.

Can you control your own wants?

So you cannot be in full control of your ‘wants’ but you can certainly (somewhat) control what you will ‘want’ in the future by feeding yourself the appropriate information and putting yourself in the appropriate situations for a particular want to shrink or grow.
