Can you be an architect without being good at drawing?
Can you be an architect without being good at drawing?
I am living proof that you don’t have to draw well to be an architect. Architects communicate through their drawings – we aren’t making art. As architect Lou Kahn once famously said, “an artist can make a cart with square wheels, but an architect can’t.”
Can you be an architect without creativity?
One of the most important qualities of being an architect is creativity. The only way to do this is through creative thinking. Architects must use a combination of the left and right sides of their brain to harness both their logical, mathematical thinking and their unique, originative thinking.
Is drawing necessary for architecture?
Architecture is not about art, but it is about creativity and the ability to communicate your ideas. Architects do use hand-drawings and sketches to communicate their design ideas, but also use computers to do so. That is important in architecture.
Do architects use physics?
WHY DO ARCHITECTS NEED PHYSICS? Students of most undergraduate architecture programs in the United States are required to take an introductory physics course. First, architects have to understand the fundamentals of physics as they apply to processes taking place in buildings and in structures.
Do you need to be good at drawing to be an architect?
But yes, I do think you need to intuitively grasp three dimensions (a skill often revealed through hand drawing) to be a successful architect. Then again these are my opinions and there are certainly no rules to what makes you successful in this field and what doesn’t. this is a drawing by one of Architecture’s golden children, Frank Ghery.
Is archarchitecture all about 3D modelling?
Architecture is NOT about 3D modelling. The vast majority of the beautiful icons of design and architecture were not created on a computer. Gropius famously couldn’t draw and always needed others to draw his designs for him…… I didn’t think that I could draw, so i went to architecture school instead of art school.
Are most architects doodlers?
Alot of architects I know (including myself) are doodlers at heart and rarely expend the energy to make “perfect” sketches and drafting techniques are easily taught. i like Frank Gehry sketches, i like drawing in a fluid and way…
What makes a good hand drawing?
Good hand drawings start with a good understanding of what you’re looking at, how pieces interrelate in three dimensions and how this thing you’re seeing relates to your own body as you draw it.
