Do you need Maths A level to do PPE?

Although a background in Mathematics is not formally required for admission, PPE applicants should have sufficient interest in, and aptitude for, mathematics to cope with the mathematical elements of the course. Many successful applicants have studied Maths to at least AS-level, or another equivalent.

Do you need further Maths for economics at Oxford?

The University of Oxford – Department of Economics – Three As at A Level is the usual offer from Oxford. Although it’s not mandatory, they say A Level in Maths is “preferred”, so if you know what’s good for you, you better have one. An A* in A Level Maths is needed, and an A Level in Economics is desirable.

It is recommended to have learnt the basics of differentiation before starting your university course in PPE.
