The color grading process will vary somewhat from editor to editor, but here is a general workflow you can follow:

  1. Normalize Your Video Clips.
  2. Perform Video Color Correction.
  3. Color Grade Your Footage.
  4. Perform Final Color Adjustment.
  5. Consider Vectorscopes and Skin Tones.

Is color grading easy?

Curves: Color grading and correction is easier with Curves, even if they are quite difficult to use. If you want a total brightness overhaul of your scene, this should be your primary tool. It is a bit complicated because you need to drag points and bend curves to achieve the effect you want.

How do you color correct your face?

The Basic Rules. Use the appropriate hue to cover blemishes, then lightly pat your foundation on over the color. When covering dark eye circles with orange or pink, apply your regular concealer over the bright pigments, then tap the makeup down with a beauty blender.

How do you color correct a picture?

If your photo has a color cast you want to correct, when you click on the Auto button you may notice that Curves layer adjusts the contrast instead of white balance. To tweak this, hold the Alt/Option key and click on the Auto button. This will bring up the Auto Color Correction options.

What is color correction highlight?

Highlights (Gain)​: Parts of your image that would be white if you took away all color (skies, bright areas). ● Midtones (Gamma)​: Parts of your image that would be grey if you took away all color, the bulk of your image (anything in the middle of the lighting spectrum).

Mid-toned colours are in the middle of the tonal spectrum, neither dark nor light. By eliminating tonal changes or contrasts – like shadows or bright light – in the painting process, you will have to develop a different way of looking at colour and translating it on to the canvas.
