Why is baseball not popular in the South?

Southern states tend to be poorer, and may not have the funds or fans for an MLB stadium. Especially when they`re sinking that money into ginormous high school football stadiums.

Why does New Orleans not have a baseball team?

There simply isn’t a large enough base or enough regional support. And hockey isn’t spoken here. Baseball has been “batted” around over the years. New Orleans currently has a team (I’m not naming them because I hate the name), the AAA affiliate for the Marlins.
