Why is E minor so good?
All the open strings are tuned to notes which are well within any minor mode of E (EADGBE), and also fall into the E minor pentatonic scale. This allows for the composer/improviser to be assured that ringing out any open string results in a note that resides within the E minor scale, and won’t sound too outlandish.
