How did OkCupid get its name?

Max Krohn’s OKWS (the Ok Webserver) was named after OkCupid, not the other way around. Back in 2003, when we started development, we had a couple goals with our name: to remind our users it was a dating site (hence the “Cupid”), since our plan at launch was to focus on off-mission viral toys to promote site growth.
