Who governs the CBSE?
Central Board of Secondary Education or CBSE is a national board of education in India. It is controlled and managed by Union Government of India and managed both public and private schools. CBSE Board as on 01-05-2019 has 21271 schools in India and 228 schools in 25 foreign countries.
Who regulates education in India?
National Board of education is run by Government of India’s HRD Ministry to provide education in rural areas and challenged groups in open and distance education mode. A pilot project started by CBSE to provide high class affordable education, provides education up to 12th standard.
Can the government control private schools?
The CDE has no authority to monitor or regulate private schools. A private school is a private business or nonprofit entity and most issues are controlled by the private school unless regulated by law (such as health or safety laws) or regulated by private contract.

School Management Committee (SMC) is a form of community interaction and involvement in school functioning. As per the Act, the SMC will work towards enhancing parents community participation in the school functioning and provide mechanisms for more effective management at school level.
