Whats the difference between a 13 speed and 18 speed?

A 13 speed has a splitter function which is only active in the high range. You could call it 6a, 6b, 7a 7b etc. An 18 speed also allows you to split the 5 lower gears giving you the original 9 gears times 2. You would very rarely use all 18 gears in every day usage.

It increases the fun factor, increases hill climbing ability at low speeds, can slightly increase mpg in city driving ( stop & go traffic ), you will gain extra reverse gears for a total of 4 vs 3 for an 13spd or 2 for a 10spd, and it will increase the resale value of the truck.
