While the Jindo are not known for being aggressive, they have been called an especially suspicious breed. They are fiercely protective of their owners, frequently to whatever ends they feel necessary.

How much exercise does Jindo need?

Jindo dogs are well adapted to domestic life. They are happy going on 10-30 minute walks multiple times a day, and enjoy a regular exercise schedule. This makes them excellent apartment dogs, as long as they get outside to expand and explore their territory every day.

How much do Jindos shed?

The Jindo is a seasonal shedder and will shed very heavily twice a year, usually in the spring and fall. During heavy shedding, the Jindo needs to be groomed every day and given weekly warm baths to help the hair come out quicker. Use a comb, pin brush and deshedder when grooming during times of heavy shedding.

In humans, an allergy to pollen, mold, or dust makes people sneeze and their eyes itch. In dogs, rather than sneeze, allergies make their skin itchy. We call this skin allergy “atopy”, and Jindos often have it.

What do Jindo dogs eat?

Giving them a diet as close to that of the wild will help maintain health for years to come. Some owners choose to feed their Jindo a raw diet but they also do well with a high protein grain free kibble. Avoid feeding your Jindo a kibble made with corn, as their digestive system isn’t used to heavy starches.
