Can you see pulsars from Earth?

No. Pulsars themselves are really tiny, and in addition they radiate mainly radio and x-rays, not visible to our eyes. Optically they are difficult to see even for strong telescopes.

Can you see nebula in space?

Most nebulae – clouds of interstellar gas and dust – are difficult if not impossible to see with the unaided eye or even binoculars. But the Orion Nebula is in a class nearly all by itself. It’s visible to the unaided eye on a dark, moonless night.

Why do nebulae look so cloudy?

This radiation strikes the molecules of the gas which absorb this energy and re-radiate the energy as light. A reflection nebula is one which simply reflects light from a star or a set of stars. This reflected light looks blue to us, for the same reason that the sky looks blue.

To photograph the Orion Nebula you’ll need to use a DSLR camera fitted with a lens or attached to a telescope with a focal length of 500mm or longer. The arrangement will also need to be on a driven mount, to permit you to capture the long exposures without features trailing across the image.

What are pulsars in space?

Pulsars are rotating neutron stars observed to have pulses of radiation at very regular intervals that typically range from milliseconds to seconds. Pulsars have very strong magnetic fields which funnel jets of particles out along the two magnetic poles. These accelerated particles produce very powerful beams of light.

This depends a lot on exactly how you define a nebulae, but we are actually in a very dense region of the interstellar medium, the local interstellar cloud. Observing it directly from Earth is very difficult, due to sunlight and the solar wind, but its magnetic field has been measured by the Voyager 2 probe.

Does a nebula have gravity?

Nebulae are made of dust and gases—mostly hydrogen and helium. The dust and gases in a nebula are very spread out, but gravity can slowly begin to pull together clumps of dust and gas. As these clumps get bigger and bigger, their gravity gets stronger and stronger.
