Why is seeing red so hard?
The way it does this is through receptor cells called cones. They come in three flavors: Short, Medium, and Long. When light of an appropriate wavelength strikes a cone, that cone triggers a vision sensation. Red exists on the upper end of the spectrum, towards 700nm.
