Do people really LARP?
LARPing has been around for more than 30 years. Between 50 and 70 people have attended the LARPing in Richmond since it began, and there are an estimated 25,000 LARPers nationwide. Barker said LARPing is a lot like the tabletop game Dungeons & Dragons – every player represents one character in a fictional setting.

Why do people like LARPing?
Some players enjoy it as a medium to share a story, or act out history. Some players enjoy LARPing or acting out favorite stories they enjoy reading, or other games they played in the past. It becomes a way to escape the reality, and live a fantasy life.
Is LARP a sport?
Within the live-combat category there are two sub-forms: Role-play and battle game. As I see it, role-play oriented live-combat LARPs fall into the art category and battle-game oriented LARPs into the sport category.
How do I get started in Larping?
Step #1 Search for a LARP that interests you

- Post in r/LARP subreddit.
- Visit your local gaming stores.
- Contact local gaming clubs (They can usually be found at universities and colleges)
- If everything else fails, start a small scale larp with your friends and recruit players as you go.
