Answer: Students do not have a choice of Centre/ Date/ Timeslot. The only choice that is given is for city preference while filling the application form. The details of the exam centre, timeslot and date will be mentioned in the JEE Main admit card.

You should go for both the exams as the best one will be considered but you gotta do your best in the January exam. Because even lower marks in January exam can get you higher rank, for example : for 200 marks you can get around 1500 rank in January but later for the same marks you’ll get around rank of 4000 .
