Do you have to know Korean to audition for K-pop?

It is not a requirement to speak Korean. Remember, BlackPink’s Lisa didn’t speak Korean when she was a trainee. In fact, many K-pop entertainment companies allow all ethnicities and races to audition.

There are no age restrictions to apply, but with an average of six years required for training, the sweet spot for auditioning artists is between the ages of 14 and 16. What is the JYP audition all about?

JYP AUDITION is looking for the next global star. And you can be the one! K-pop, pop, etc. (No limit in genre) Self-choreographed dance, cover dance, hip-hop, b-boy, popping, locking etc. (No restrictions in genre) The finalists will be offered an opportunity to participate in the special training system of JYP Entertainment.

No, JYP is actually very open to foreigners. You can be completely Korean or even non-asian and audition to JYP. Park Jinyoung looks more for talent, beauty, and personality. He looks for someone that is likeable and has a good presence (in other words: charm).
