How do Decouplers work?

How do Decouplers work?
The decoupler behaves in the same way as it does during an AC fault. It safely channels the high-voltage DC current of the lightning to ground, protecting nearby workers. As soon as this event has ended, the decoupler automatically switches back to its DC isolation/cathodic protection role.
What does a stack separator do in KSP?
The TS-12 Stack Separator is a separator that allows for staging rockets vertically and in sequence.
What is solid state Decoupler?
The SSD functions as a DC isolation and AC coupling device (a “decoupler”), preventing the flow of CP current up to a pre- determined voltage threshold, while passing any induced AC current.
What is the difference between a decoupler and a stack separator?
The decoupler stays attached to one side of your ship after separation while the separator detaches from BOTH parts of the ship. The separator is useful if you intend to separate your craft into two different pieces and you intend to use both.
How do you use autopilot in KSP?
Stock KSP does not have any autopilot. The SAS and ASAS are only stabilizers, SAS will attempt to counteract roll and ASAS will attempt to hold your ship on its current heading, but they will only do this while SAS(to the top right of your NavBall) is activated. To activate or deactivate SAS, press T be default.
What is AC mitigation?
AC mitigation is the process of designing and applying pipeline grounding systems to: Prevent voltage spikes during fault conditions. Reduce AC current density to protect against AC induced corrosion.
What happens if you stack decouplers on a rocket?
Both effects cause jettisoned stages which are still running to crash into the rocket in most cases. Leaving stacked decouplers attached to an engine renders that engine ineffectual. Although the engine will ignite, it will provide no thrust because it’s blocked by a part.
Is explosive decoupling possible with other engines?
Although explosive decoupling is possible with other engines, the first decoupler is already in the first research node. The decouplers are the more flexible and reliable staging method and become available before other engines capable of explosive decoupling.
What is the best decoupler rocket for space travel?
The more the explosive force and the less payload mass in this “decoupler rocket”, the more altitude or speed will be gained from the separation. The TR-XL Stack Separator is the best candidate because it has the highest ejection force.
What happens when a rocket booster stage is almost empty?
Almost empty booster stages are also relatively light causing a higher acceleration and overtaking the rocket. Both effects cause jettisoned stages which are still running to crash into the rocket in most cases. Leaving stacked decouplers attached to an engine renders that engine ineffectual.
