Is it normal to have jelly-like blood on your period?

A. If you notice on heavy days of your period that blood seems extra-thick, and can sometimes form a jelly-like glob, these are menstrual clots, a mix of blood and tissue released from your uterus during your period. They can vary in size and color, and usually, they are nothing to worry about.

Why does it look like tissue in my period?

It’s perfectly normal to notice some clumps from time to time during your period. These are blood clots that may contain tissue. As the uterus sheds its lining, this tissue leaves the body as a natural part of the menstrual cycle. So clots of tissue are usually nothing to be concerned about.

What should a normal period look like?

Fresh blood at the beginning of your period is usually bright red. A heavy flow could be darker, especially with clots. Rusty brown blood is older; what you’ll typically see toward the end of the week because the air has had a chance to react with it. Pinkish is probably just a light period.

What is tissue like discharge?

A decidual cast occurs when a large piece of tissue passes through your vaginal canal. Once outside your body, you may notice that it looks like the shape of your uterus. This condition can affect menstruating women. It can cause extreme discomfort as well as vaginal bleeding as it leaves your body.

What color should period blood be?

It’s normal to see period blood in shades of pink, red, and brown. The shades can mean different things. Pink blood: Pink blood is often seen at the time your period starts. At this stage, some of the fresh, bright red blood may mix with vaginal discharge causing the color to lighten and look pink.

Why is my discharge like wet tissue?

Thick, white, clumpy discharge like wet toilet paper may indicate a vaginal yeast infection (vaginal candidiasis). The symptoms of a yeast infection include itching, painful sex and irritation, and aches around the vulva. It can be treated with antifungal medications in creams, ointments, tablets, and suppositories.

Can your womb lining come out?

It will be somewhat triangular and close to the size of your uterus. This is because the entire lining exited as one piece. The decidual cast will also appear fleshy because it’s made up of tissue. It’s possible that the decidual cast will also come out in fragments instead of as a single piece of tissue.
