Why is uplink and downlink of a satellite communication different?

Why is uplink and downlink of a satellite communication different?

It say basically the power at ground stations is more as compared to power available at satellites. So generally frequency for uplink is kept higher than the downlink. There is greater attenuation due to rain when the signal frequency is high.so downlink is also kept at lower frequency.

What is meant by uplink?

Definition of uplink 1 : a communications channel for transmissions to a spacecraft or satellite also : the transmissions themselves. 2 : a facility on earth for transmitting to a spacecraft or satellite.

What is an uplink channel?

Last updated: May 5, 2010. The “Downlink” refers to a radio link for the transmission of signals from the test set to a UE (mobile station) while the “Uplink” refers to a radio link for the transmission of signals from a UE (mobile station) to the test set.

What is the meaning of uplink and downlink?

In satellite telecommunication, a downlink is the link from a satellite down to one or more ground stations or receivers, and an uplink is the link from a ground station up to a satellite. Some companies sell uplink and downlink services to television stations, corporations, and to other telecommunication carriers.

What is uplink and downlink in switch?

The term uplink is commonly used in satellite communications and in this case, refers to the radio wave transmission which travels from a transmitter on the ground to a satellite. This is the opposite of “downlink” which is when the connection is being sent from the satellite to the transmitters on the ground.

What is uplink downlink?

What is downlink in networking?

In the context of satellite communications, a downlink (DL) is the link from a satellite to a ground station. Pertaining to cellular networks, the radio downlink is the transmission path from a cell site to the cell phone.

What is the downlink channel?

In LTE the Downlink Shared Channel (DL-SCH) is a transport channel used for the transmission of user data, dedicated control and user-specific higher layer information and downlink system information. The Physical Downlink Shared Channel (PDSCH) is the physical channel that carries the DL-SCH coded data.

What is the uplink and downlink frequency in satellite communication?

The frequency with which, the signal is sent into the space is called as Uplink frequency. Similarly, the frequency with which, the signal is sent by the transponder is called as Downlink frequency. Uplink frequency is the frequency at which, the first earth station is communicating with satellite.
