Can employees create UAN number?

Although the Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) allows employers to generate their employees’ Universal Account Number (commonly known as UAN) through its portal, individual users can also create their UAN online.

Can we create a new UAN number?

In order to get a new UAN generated for the employee, the employer has to follow these steps: Login to EPF Employer Portal using the Establishment ID and password. Click on the “Register Individual” tab in the “Member” section. Enter the employee’s details such as PAN, Aadhaar, bank details, etc.

How can I delete old UAN account?

  1. Inform your employer to close the old UAN.
  2. You can also directly send an email at [email protected].
  3. Mention your UANs and related information in the email.
  4. The EPFO will verify these and all your old UANs will be closed.
  5. Only the most recent UAN will be operational.

Do I have to share my UAN with new employer?

I don’t want to share my previous experience. When the new employer tries to create a new UAN the system would say the employee has already a UAN. Then the employer would ask you to share the UAN. It depends on the system. Previousely the system used to create the UAN for the second time for the same person.

How to update KYC information in the UAN member portal?

Yes, it can be done by going to the ‘Profile’ menu and selecting ‘Update KYC Information’ in the UAN Member Portal. The uploaded KYC document by the member has to be digitally approved by the employer.

What if I don’t have a Uan?

This facility can be used by freshers, or new employees, who are joining the workforce as well as by employees who have older EPF accounts but do not have a UAN as yet. As a new employee, you can simply generate a UAN and provide the number to your employer at the time of joining, when you need to fill up forms for your EPF contribution.

How do I Activate my Uan?

Members can activate their UAN by visiting the UAN based Member Portal website i.e. https://uanmembers.epfoservices.in/.
